About CY Aviation
CY Aviation, Inc. was established by Connie Younger in 1990. Our goal has always been to provide first-rate customer service in a friendly hometown atmosphere. Aside from excellent aircraft maintenance and flight training offerings, our clients enjoy unmatched hospitality, from that daily cup of morning coffee to Boone Area Pilot Association events throughout the year, and social activities such as hangar dances and flight breakfasts. If you haven't visited us yet, we hope you will.
Being the Friendliest Little Airport in Iowa doesn’t happen all by itself; it takes dedicated staff. We look forward to serving you.

Connie Younger, founder of CY Aviation, enjoyed an extensive aviation career, having first fallen in love with flying after a four-year tour of duty with the US Navy as a Naval Musician. After the service, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Northwest Missouri State and his Master’s Degree in Aerospace Education from the University of Miami-Ohio. Connie also earned a variety of pilots' licenses and found employment as a glider flight instructor with the University of Illinois' Institute of Aviation in Champaign. This experience led to an Assistant Professor's position at Iowa State University in Ames, with the University's FAR Part 141 flight department and the department of Industrial Education. Connie served as Chief Flight Instructor and corporate pilot at ISU for 21 years, flying the Beechcraft KingAir 200, the Rockwell Aero Commander AC500 and the Cessna 414. He also instructed in seaplanes and gliders during the summers and earned his Airframe Mechanic's license as well. In 2014 he completed his ninth season as an aerial tour pilot for Kantishna Air Taxi and Denali Air in Denali National Park, Alaska. He proudly and humbly logged over 20,000 accident-free pilot hours during the course of his aviation career, including 3,000 multi-engine, 2,000 tailwheel, 700 gilder and 150 seaplane. As an FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor, Connie taught hundreds of students to fly as well as helping them upgrade to more advanced pilot ratings.
Connie passed away on August 1st, 2016 at the age of 77. His legacy as an exemplary and devoted flight instructor will live on in the lives of every student fortunate to have benefitted from his wealth of knowledge and his unique and exacting teaching style.
